The Red List

Punainen Kirja / The Red List [working title]

The Red List is a durational project that is based on the Finnish assessment of endangered species.

Each participant of the project commits to a certain species on the list, thus forming a life-long alliance with it. The alliance is sealed with a tattoo that displays the image of the species on the body part of one’s choice. The tattoos are photographed and archived online: later on, the images will be printed out as a book.

The list of the threatened species can be found online, in a web service provided by the Ministry of the Environment. The list can be downloaded here.
