From Spaces to Situations (2013)
From Spaces to Situations is an intensive workshop that focuses on the role and possibilities of space in performing arts and in the creation of performative situations. We use a range of different exercises, scores and creative tasks to investigate the relationship between physical and performative space as well as the spatial relations between performers and audience members. By varying and changing these relations, we construct different types of performative situations, where space and our relation to space have a key role.
Depending on the length of the workshop, we may also look at examples of the use of space in the history of performance art, theater and installation art, and reconstruct these examples if possible. The last days of the workshop are dedicated to the construction of performance demonstrations.
